We will use our tardy kiosk to check in students who arrive late. Any student entering the building after 7:15 am should report to the front office and will be marked tardy.
To help your child start their day on time and ready to learn, we encourage car riders to arrive early in the drop-off line and walkers to begin their route a little earlier. Reminder, our doors open at 6:45 am for morning arrival. Thank you for partnering with us to build strong morning routines!

Daily changes should be made in one of two ways:
- Call the front office before 1:30 pm on the day of the change (10:15 am on half-days.)
- Send a note with your child that morning. Students turn in notes to their teachers upon arrival.
Permanent changes require a Transportation Change Form. This form will be linked in the weekly newsletter and is attached below. You may print and send it with your child or stop by the front office to complete one in person.
Our top priority is safety and making sure every Hedgehog gets to the right dismissal location each day. Thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly and safely!

We want to make sure all families are aware of our procedures for days when severe weather is expected. Student safety is always our top priority, and we appreciate your partnership in helping dismissal run smoothly during these times.
If severe weather is anticipated, parents will receive a notification through ParentSquare by 1:00 pm. This message will let you know that our severe weather dismissal plan is in place for that afternoon.
Here’s what you can expect on those days:
- Car Riders, Bus Riders, and Daycare Riders – Dismissal for these students will remain the same. No changes will be made.
- Walkers – For safety reasons, all walkers will automatically be switched to car riders. If you prefer a different mode of transportation, any change must be submitted via a phone call to the Front Office before 1:30 pm on that same day.
Thank you for your flexibility and support as we work together to keep students safe and ensure dismissal is as smooth as possible, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.

The Transportation Department follows the consequences below. When a student receives a bus suspension, parents are notified via email and text. In the case of a bus suspension, parents must call the campus to make a transportation change before 1:30 pm.
Thank you for helping us ensure that our hedgehogs follow bus safety procedures and campus expectations when riding the bus!

At Haygood, SPIKES help us set the tone for a safe, kind, and positive school community. Teachers will continue reviewing SPIKES with students so everyone knows what it means to be a true Haygood Hedgehog.
Students can earn House Points for showing SPIKES in action—and those points add up to fun prizes and exciting experiences for their House!
When we use the same language at school and at home, we send a strong, united message to our students. We’d love for you to go over SPIKES with your child, talk about what they mean, and help them get excited to earn House Points!
